My First MRE

After binge watching MRE videos on YouTube, I made the crazy decision to purchase MREs.
At first, I wanted to buy local Malaysian MREs, but after consulting my Police friend (you know who you are hehehe), I've decided against it.
Reason being, it is more like a nasi lemak wrapped up, and the shelf life is waaaay too short (around 6 mths)
So I imported Chinese Ration MRE from TaoBao.

The package arrived today!!

Just look at how gorgeous this it...
It even came with a multipurpose knife.
Awesome

Quick info:

  • MRE = Meal Ready-to-Eat
  • First used in US military
  • Can be used during camping trips
  • Recent MREs include flameless heat packs
  • For the Chinese MRE that I have, it has a shelf life of 36 mths (3 years)

Watch my unboxing/taste testing video here.

Needless to say, a nice and delicious experience.
My two cents, I think this Chinese Ration is either a 2 person pack or it can last you for 2 meals.
We finished ours during dinner.
Yummy!

Till next time people!

My Braces Journey - Part 2

25 Nov 2015 - 7pm

The day before I got my braces, I was surprisingly calm (well, the few days prior to this in which I'm reading profusely / panicky about how to handle the first day of getting braces doesn't really count :P)
So I proposed to my friends that we had a night off before I say goodbye to good food temporarily.
Bachelor party for my crooked teeth before they got Tied Down... AmIRightPeople???
(heh, excuse the lame pun)
I have awesome friends...
They agreed to it without a second thought!
(Awww, I love you guys)

Love you pepo!
Even though you guys are a bunch of weirdos :P

My food itinerary goes something like this:
Chocolate Mousse Cake @ Dolce Dessert House
Al-Cabonara Linguine @ Soul Cafe
Hokkien Mee @ Green House Hokkien Mee Burmah Road

In which they are finished in a short span of 3 hours.
BEST. DAY. EVA!

So that's it!
Au Revoir Ms.Crooked!

 26 Nov 2015 - 9am

Woke up, brushed my teeth, took a bath, washed my hair... (why am I telling you guys all these)
Had a wholesome breakfast which consist of my mom's homemade roasted chicken wings along with Angel Hair pasta. (I'm in heaven)
Went to the orthodontist, aaaaaaaaand waited for my turn.
My mom had her filing done first, then I hopped on the dental chair that looks like the twisted man from The Saw would had so much fun there.
My orthodontist was patient and skillful, and loheng cause he likes to 'zhat' me... hahaha.
I got Damon braces glued to my teeth, then a wire attached to those brackets.
Took about 1 hour.
It was relatively painless (except for that one time the orthodontist hissed and said "Aiya...." and that scared the wits out of me) and everything went quite well.
I went home feeling well and prepared.....

Lenglui with braces

BUT, I was totally wrong.
Days before, I prepared myself for the worst, gums infection.
That happens when the metal brackets scraped the inner walls of your mouth.
So I was wary enough to ask for dental wax from the orthodontist. (Feeling smart here)
Feeling like I've triumphed, I went home with a crooked and swollen smile.
Only to realize, that's not the worst part,,,,

After I've got my braces fixed, I felt literally nothing, more like a foreign object on my teeth...
After a few hours, these 'foreign objects' started to carry their weight...
Not forgetting that constant pulling of the metal wire that literally Realigns your Jaw!
Towards the afternoon, I experienced a nagging headache...
Well it went off after some rest.
In the evening however, it felt kinda itchy!
Hahahaha...
BTW, I am now on a soft diet, so I'm glad my friends and my mom prepared me for that. <3 div="">

So yea!
That's about it!
A short update on my journey.
Perhaps I'll come back when I experience something new.
Till next time lovely pepo!

Bean Boozled!

One week after I came back from KL, I called up a few of my friends to have a small gathering...
While torturing them with this lil thingy right here.... MUAHAHAHAHA (*insert devil laugher)

I bought this in One Utama, in a shop called Candylicious.
And, I thought it would be a great Challenge to us all!
Everything is set.
We (Ms.Pheyee and I) cooked a delectable Western dinner beforehand to first pleasure their tastebuds...

AND THEN, we whipped out these bad guys and started our game. Yeeeehehehehehehe!
It was awesomely awkward nonetheless!
Check out the video to see how we played the Bean Boozled challenge!

Ahhh, fun times.
Hopefully there will be more?

Have a nice day pepo!

To my first ever mid-life "crisis"

Well, I'm not really reaching a mid-life "crisis" pe say, more like a mid-life "questioning".
So I am now shaping my path towards education in language and music.
But questions flowed in my head when I begin to wonder if I'm doing the 'right' thing for my future.
Say for instance, how could you be sure or certain about the things you do and how can you guarantee 'success' from it?

(yea, I know, success is such a big word!)
Which brings me to my point.
What do I want in life?

Everybody wants to live a nice peaceful life without needing to worry about basic needs.
Some would even go to the extend to achieve more when they're young, to be lazy when they are old.
They call it the passive income. (another big word!)
Well, Sheng and I had been through several 'business' models that attracted us with the aforementioned passive income.
But so far, we had not found one that is suitable for us.
I stumbled upon this Singaporean blog I'd like to share to all > Be inspired. Be A Champion
And I'd say, I've learnt a lot reading from this.
To practicalise this, there's still some gaps to be filled.

Back to my own story, well, I think what I can do right now, is to focus on getting my basic needs first.
I tend to get distracted at times, but I do hope I'm on the right track.
Well, what's the worse case scenario anyways...
But I'm definitely not satisfied enough with my current lifestyle.
More to go, there's definitely more to go...

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On a less serious side note, if you guys are ever in BM central market, do give this place a try!
It's a 煮炒 place where they serve incredible food.
It's called the 兴利 restaurant.

Kitchen manned by two brothers

Famous dished include the steamed fish, fried brinjal and fried tofu.

Well, we finished it in no time.
It was delicious.

To the beautiful people out there, stay strong, stay lovely.

How to Burger

So when a bunch of friends decided to squeeze some time off their busy schedules and meet up...
What do they usually do?
Chill at a cafe? Lunch at a fancy restaurant? Or grab a movie at the nearest mall?
NOT FOR US!
We go back to the basics: man, nature, AND burger

First off, deciding to meet at 10pm at a Friday night is already as crazy as it sounds
But, to insist on having a nice warm BBQ session right after a rain?
You know nothing's gonna stop us!

So here we are at our fav spot
Underneath Penang Bridge

A nice view to look at while we prepare our fire...
Which was sipek challenging cause of the rain

Finding tree branches and leaves are the easy part
Lighting em up to a decent fire took us about 1 hour

So it's 1 hour of non stop fanning, blowing onto almost-dead flames and throwing in small branches

But the guys did manage to ignite the whole BBQ set with only 1 火种 and a few charcoals

As fo me... Well, while I was waiting for the others to arrive, I was busy taking selfies
.
.
.
Until I tripped and sprained my ankle...
Which confined me to sitting on a tiny rock afterwards for the whole night
Boo....

Readying the fire

Baby you're a firework...

You just gotto ignite, the light...

And let, it shine!

Voila!
Burger in the making

Look at em go

Mr.Tommy - chicken tosser

Mr.Sheng - fire controller

Ms.Wendy - Rock sitter / Selfie taker

United, as one!
Pepo, these are the rare instances where you can see
womenfolk sitting around doing nothing, while the guys do all the work.
A toast, to you both!

Then 3 random strangers decided to come join our fire
Yes, they are totally random :D

How to prepare a mouth watering burger?
(hidden episode from how-to basics)
#1 - Ready the ingredients
#2 - Burn the buns
#3 - Slap waaaay too much mayo on your bun
#4 - Put in cheese that doesnt look like cheese
#5 - Smash in readied chicken breast
#6 - Regret your decision and try to save it by slapping black pepper sauce
#7 - Enjoy it anyways!
*Ting*

Moar photos!

Le first burger taster

Working with almost melted cheese
Reminds us of... Stuff.

Fire burning our burnt bun

Mayo slapper

Everyone enjoyed their burger

Nice chilling and catching up with everyone :)

All in all, an awesome experience!
Even tho I got a bit tipsy towards the end, but I self-declare this gathering...
A SUCCESS!
I had an awesome time hanging out with you guys
Hopefully, there will be another one soon!

To end this amazing blog post, a photo of our beloved 大姐!
To many many more gatherings in near future

Penang Cycling

My friends and I decided to go to Penang to cycle around the heritage sites.
We arrived at Armenian street early and rented a bike.
Man, my butt hurts now.
But, all in all, a great trip.
I enjoyed myself; and my brother no doubt, enjoyed it too.
Really hope my friends feel the same way too.
Yey!
Anyways, here are the photos and some short clips!!!

Tried this 万福面 near the Pasar Pagi near Armenian Street.
It tasted like Pan Mee but with lots of minced meat inside.

Guess what?! We picked the right time to go, there's a festival going on.
The 大伯公 fest I think.

We grabbed one of them and took photos with him!

*breaking composure

So this is the street view

Yea, it's pretty happening.
People mountain people sea

I love those lanterns.
Look at my friends go!

This is the place we rented the bikes.

Twas a small vintage shops, and we got our bikes for RM8 each!
(It was pretty cheap as compared to other shops renting them for RM10)

I think he likes his because of the different sized tires.

So the owner said we can use the bikes the whole day, until 6pm.
Awesome!

First street art we saw along the corner of the shop.
I told him he looks very rigid with his all serious pose.

So this happened...

Here we are at the street art depicting Penang's rich Hokkien culture.

Here we are near the minions.

Sadly it was changed and all that's left was this little cardboard remake of it.

Nearing the cats alley...

Where many cats street art could be found.

Yey us

I specially took this photo of the plants being planted in shoes for my mom.
Perhaps someday we might find some use in those old smelly shoes...

Riding along the busy street

*cue song* Because I'm happy...

I particularly like this lil doodle.
Even though it's not really a street art, but I thought it looked dope.

Cat, Us

Us, Cat

Pose strike #1

I feel like I look like Pete Griffin

Big A$$ street art!

Having a short rest while heading to First Avenue

Saw this wall filled with painting!

I think this is a new one, but it's super cool

So we reached First Avenue

There's this Balloon Activity going on down there for kids to play

We even took photos with the mascot!

After we bought SJ4000, we stopped at Mews Cafe

L told me he loved the ikan bilis

The four photos below are taken using SJ4000
(you can see the faulty date stamps at the bottom right corner of the photos)

Yup, I'm satisfied

Zoom 4x

But it's kinda blury when zoomed

More of this 大伯公 fest nearing the place we returned our bikes

Needless to say, it was jam packed!

Had to walk through bodies of people with our bikes by our side to pass through

AND THEN! WE MET OUR CM!
LIM GUAN ENG!

We actually held hands with him!
#proudpenangkia

A lil more before we go...

And that's it!

We wrapped up our Penang trip with happy smiles

Then we went to Sunway, dabao Subway and watched 'The Maze Runner' with Sheng and James
Haha! Day well spent!
I love you guys
