My Trip to Kuching Sarawak - Day 2

Day 2 is when the adventure really begin, where Sheng & I traveled to Santubong for Sarawak Cultural Village & Permai Rainforest Resort

We started our day off with yummy food!

and Sarawak Laksa!

(it does taste as good as it looks)

I've notice that the taogeh there is longer than what we are accustomed to in PG

OOTD - haha..

First stop: Sarawak Cultural Village!

BTW, it is also the place for the rainforest world music festival

where people from all over the world come together to make music!

There are a total of 7 types of houses available there:

Cina, Melayu, Melanau, Orang Ulu, Iban, Penan and Bidayuh

Entrance

Rumah Cina is our first stop, mainly it is similar to our ancestor's house, very nice decoration tho

We learn how they pick and process pepper and birds nest

Then we went to Rumah Melayu, with traditional Malay song playing at the background

Rumah Melanau was REALLY HIGH

Most of the house is connected by wooden stairs like this.

The stepping area is really small, so we have to be really careful when walking.

Imagine, the handles are only built for tourist, in real Melanau or other tribe's house they don't have railings to support them, people would just walk up that piece of log!

We then went to the Panggung Budaya to enjoy the performance.

The performance was really entertaining & informative.

Different tribes were introduced through traditional dances.

There's even handsome Orang Ulus entertaining us with their funny stunts and audience participation!

A definite Must-See!

We continued to Rumah Orang Ulu, where one of the friendly Orang Ulu showed us how they make Parang for the HeadHunters.

Scary, but fun!

Rumah Iban and Bidayuh is longer and much stable cause they would usually stay longer, up to months before they move.

We finished off Penan in a rush as it was getting hot.

Then we walked to our resting place for the night, Permai Rainforest Resort!!!

We are sweating and tired when we arrived there. 

But excited as this is the place where many netizens had recommended,

Staying on the Treetop!

Met a friendly (hopefully not poisonous) snake on the way to our tree top

Aaaaaaaaaand there it is!

Just chillin outside with Mother Nature

I'd say it's a very romantic place for couples and for family to stay at. 

We later went to swim at the Jungle pool, which I thought was a genius idea!

But good thing there's no blood sucking leeches there. 

We also went to Beach no 2 situated right after the Jungle pool

And that's how we spend our day 2!

My trip to Kuching Sarawak - Day 1

It Was Awesome!
Booked a plane to Kuching half a year ago and am thanking myself for every minute of it!
After going through internships and working my business, it was really refreshing to take some rest from everything.

So my dar n I woke up in the middle of the night to board the all-so-early plane to Kuching...

It was still night time when we flew

First thing we noticed when we were nearing Kuching, Lots Of Rivers!!!

So we were picked up by a fellow friend, and brought to breakfast.

This is something I havent tried, it's a kuih with coconut inside, yum yum!

Had a nice Kolo Mee right at the very first day!

Here we are at Kuching's town centre

Had siew mai here

Then we went to our B&B, which was Batu Bata Guesthouse!

I'd say it's a great place to stay at!

Nice ambiance and atmosphere

(Mostly angmos here, I think we are the only Asians around the place)

So we went for some sight seeing

Had Mix Pork Rice for dinner, it was hearty, great taste far from home. 

I actually broke my shoes there, but it was really hard looking for cheap shoes here. 

I'd say the stuff sold here are twice the price of that in Penang, but the souvenirs are really cheap!

I will be going back for more, definitely!

Courage to conduct VS mistake

I've always been someone who knows my weakness

Patience have always been my week spot as I am a fast tempered person. 

Yesterday I've been a bit too harsh or impatient with a fellow friend

I'm still unsure of the outcome but it makes me feel bad 

I will try harder to be more patient to be a better person in life. 

I used to stop presenting because I know I am weak at persuasion.

Because of that I grew heavily dependent on others

But now when I need to do it myself

I face problems keeping cool.

And that's not cool at all.

Thanks for giving me the chance to learn

Thanks for giving me the chance to make a mistake

I believe with every mistake I make, I will comeback stronger

New Gadget

Yey, bought a new tablet laptop yesterday.
Acer Aspire P3.
So far I am quite satisfied with the performance.
M actually writing this blogpost with it now. XD

I've always wanted to buy  tablet laptop.
My requirements are simple:

• Tablet with Window 8 (not with the RT bullshyt...)
• Usable keyboard (the soft touch with surface is not to my liking)
• Intel I3 and above (not Intel Atom, which I feel is not enough for my usage)
• Simple and easy to use

And that's about it. 

But with these simple requirement, it's surprisingly hard to find a suitable tablet laptop with an affordable price.

Anyways, glad I got this from PC fair. 

And m satisfied. :)

Singing Off

Everybody has got a prideful chin!

I've recently reconnected back with a primary friend of mine.
Sheng and I had a great time chillin and chattin with him and his girlfriend.
As fun as it would seem, I've made an observation, or it would be more of a speculation.
I look back and pictures of all my friends in primary and secondary school begin to float up in my mind.
Everybody has got an awfully prideful chin!

This obsession on pride was first made clear to me when a friend of mine told me that I am a prideful girl.
After thinking this through, I kindda agree with that, what's wrong with having a little pride, right?
But as we were having our late night coffee/alcohol chat, I blurted out something which had been stuck in my mind for quite sometime.
"I think our school produced a lot of prideful kids"
Sad to say, my friend's girlfriend said that many kids from other places say that this fact is, indeed, true.
Which bring me to my next question.
Why...

Kids from our school, they lived a life where the social status quo is divided into those who are

• Perfects (being active in sports, co-curriculum and had excellent grades and coincidentally handsome or pretty - highly popular), 
• Populars (God blessed faces or body which made many fall from head to toes for them - wildly popular)
• Nerds (had excellent grades - respected by friends [only in specific situations])
• Actives (as in being active in co-curriculum, being head or leaders of organizations or uniform bodies - popular & busy)
• Quiets (the silent ones in class - form groups of own support and choose to not meddle with other kids)
• Weirds (spend time with their own obsession, computer geeks, anime fans - live life within their own circle, does not care of other's perspective)
• Outcasts (people who just doesn't get along well with others, they struggle to gain acceptance - needless to say, others would treat them in a way that is unfair or just plain ignore them)

I wouldn't say all of it is true, but I tried to stick to my observation. (excuse the lame naming I gave to each categories; if I may have offend you, meh)

But I've notice, whichever categories one may fall into, much of them had this pride in themselves that made them stayed in that particular category they were in. 

It was not that pride was an issue then, but pride did played a role in shaping our school's students. 

Being one from the many-attention-given-to school, students enroll in this school with a result cut-off.

Meaning, only good students can enter our school. 

With that, came pride; it became the basic requirement to enter our school, which is sad but not surprising. 

I think back on many different faces of friends I know, I almost always notice that they talk with their chin up (I know it is logic that we can't talk without the chin being up, doi) 

Chin up hence refers to that particular posture where you are comfortable and confident on what you are trying to say. 

As now with achievements measurable and fame & glory only so easy to get via hot social networks, it's only normal that people had many reasons to be proud of themselves. 

I believe I am rightfully prideful, same goes to Sheng, my parents, my brothers, my family and my friends. 

People have a chin which tells it all, and I believe everybody has got a prideful chin!
